How We Transformed This Dated Primary Bathroom Into a Luxurious Retreat

Renovating a bathroom is no small feat. It’s an investment of time, energy, and money. But when done right, the results can feel life-changing. For this client, their primary bathroom was stuck in the past — think outdated tiles, old fixtures, and a layout that just wasn’t working. But now? It’s unrecognizable — and I’m here to show you how we turned this tired bathroom into a luxurious, spa-inspired retreat that makes them feel like they’re on vacation every day!

The Key Elements That Made this Renovation a Show Stopper

  1. The Tub – We had to start with the tub. It was clear from the beginning that if we wanted to elevate the space, we needed a freestanding soaking tub, rather than the big ol’ jacuzzi. We chose THIS one from Kingston Brass. The transformation was instant. We chose a modern tub that became the focal point of the entire bathroom. It was sleek, elegant, and just screamed “luxury.” We added a light above to really make it draw the eye.

2. Fixtures That Catch the Eye
We chose marble for the floors to give the room a bright and luxurious feel. All of the plumbing fixtures were the Lexia Line in polished nickel from Signature Hardware. They are stunning and timeless! Mirrors and light fixtures are from Pottery Barn.

3. Open Concept, Minimal Clutter
The existing layout had a chunky tub and shower set up. Classic early 2000s. We wanted an open feel with clean lines. So we enclosed the shower in frameless glass and marble as far as the eye could see! Custom vanities from Charleston Design Center gave us beautiful storage to keep clutter to a minimum!

Takeaways from This Renovation

If you’re thinking about a primary bathroom renovation, remember: it’s all about the details. Choose a focal point (a statement tub, a dramatic tile design, or a luxurious shower system), focus on mood lighting, and pick fixtures that catch the eye! Focusing on the details will truly enhance your daily life and ensure that the space feels serene and decluttered.

The transformation of this primary bathroom wasn’t just about aesthetics — it was about creating a sanctuary, a place where my clients could unwind and recharge. I’m happy to say, they are thrilled with the outcome!

XOXO,
Em
